Blogs are similar to any website, but it is focused more in text-based content and updated more regularly. There are things that we can do to improve the SEO performance of our blogs. Our blog’s name appears on many places, including the title tag and this is essential from SEO perspective. Often, blogs are randomly named, but it should contain at least one keyword. The domain name can be identical with the name of our blog and it contains one or more primary keywords, our SEO efforts will be much easier. The next step is to consider about the content for our blog. We should be aware that the quality of our post is essential and if we fail to do this, it is possible that we will lose our readers quickly.

Some of our posts can be indirectly related with our main topic, but they should still be very interesting, so people will still be eager to read it. The URL of our webpages shouldn’t be too long. It should be easy to use the title of our webpage for the URL. Title and its tags should also be adjusted to meet our SEO requirements. The title should be highly relevant with our post and the first paragraph of our content should have direct correlation. When creating title, we should make sure to include the right kind of keywords. The title should be descriptive enough, so readers are able to know about the content, before they open the webpage. More weight is given to webpages that have excellent content and relevant keywords.

Blogs have categories and they are also important for SEO purposes. Categories are typically located on sidebar or top navigation. We have an option to include the category name into the URL permalink. This is an important factor to consider, if categories are closely related to our keywords. Blog also have tags that we can use. Naturally, tags should be identical with our primary and secondary keywords. With tags, we can use fewer categories and this will simplify the overall design of our blog. Blogs may have a module that show a list of tags, both in a list or cloud-like representation. The general search function could also be correlated with tags to make results more relevant for users. It mneans that tags can be interwoven with the internal indexing feature.

We should also put primary keywords in header tags, such as <h1> and <h2>. The main title is usually placed inside the <h1> tags, while subheadings in <h2> and <h3> tags. It is often said that search engine algorithms put more emphasis on keywords located in these header tags. Bold text is also important to focus on and we should put primary keywords in them. We should know that search engines often look for highlighted text. The benefits may be small, but the end result can be quite significant in the long run. Image tags should also include keywords. However, image descriptions should be relevant to the images themselves. Many blogs get decent traffic through image search features, such as Google Images.
